The Enchanted River of Hinatuan Surigao

One of the best thing in the world is to have the freedom to travel to anywhere you want and to visit the places that you had never been before.In Philippines there are several destinations that suitable for your travel vacation and one of this places is Enchanted River at Hinatuan Surigao Del sur. Its a place that will surely fulfill your travel experiences.

 Enchanted river named after its amazing and  stunning features, its sounds magical right? it is due to its  unusual and amazing looks and unusual things happened every  noon time. It is a flowing river wherein the source of  water came from underground, half of it is salty and  half is not. Every 12 noon there something that you  need to witness, the only time where you can see  fishes emerged from the deep blue hole of  enchanted river. With the sound of enchanting music  and cling clang of bills, different sizes and colors of fishes will rise from above, thats amazing right?

This place is still unexplored what lies behind the deep blue hole. There are several divers who tried to explore the small passage underground but they failed to reach the end point of the tunnel. They reached 80 feet beyond that is still unknown until now.

 The amazing feature of enchanted river attracted tourists, travelers, bloggers and divers from different part of the world. Its a unique and amazing looks that  will surely inviting you to have splash and to experiences the most wonderful nature in the world. This place became the top tourist attraction of Surigao Del sur despite of rough road and distance away from the high way yet its all worth it when you get there.
Saturday's and Sunday's are busy days for enchanted river, all cottages are full packed and its hard for you to find a place to put your things and foods in place.  Be early if you visit Enchanted river during week ends. Aside from enjoying the clear blue water, you can try island hopping as well, we thought enchanted river is located at the middle part of mountainous area but its not. Its just a few distance away from the beach. There are motor boat waiting at their station just walking distance from the main entrance of the enchanted river. For 150 pesos in 1 hour good for 5 person in one motor boat you can enjoy 3 different island including the umbrella resort and fish cage. There's a lot of things you can enjoy while you are in Enchanted River, not just enjoying the wonderful scenery, you can enjoy their foods as well. If you want to have the best sea foods while you are in that place, you can just simply asks your guide to take you to fish cage or umbrella resort.

How to get there?

Enchanted River is located at Talisay Hinatuan Surigao Del sur that is accessible with any types of vehicles. Going to this place is more advantage for a group trip to save money.

From Butuan you can find van for hire or any private care that offers 1 day or 2 days trip. During our trip we rent a Starex van for Php. 3,500 from Bayugan City good for 12 person. We visited 2 destination including the hinatuan Falls at Bislig city and enchanted river. Rate of van will depend on daily rate. From Butuan it takes 4 hours using private car going to Enchanted river. From Bislig City it takes 1 to 2 hours using a private car.

Tips when you get there

1. Entrance fee is 50 persos per head, you can ask for a discount if you are a group of people, they offer discounts for the entrance fee.

2. Saturday and sunday is not an ideal day to visit the Enchanted river, its a busy day for them. Most of their cottages are fully occupied and its hard for you to find place to settle your things and foods. If you will visit during end of the week ( sat and sun ) be there early as possible so you can have available cottages.

3. When you get there, every 12 noon there will be a so called fish feeding. Its a rare event that only happens every 12 noon. With the sound of bell and enchanting music fished from hole will emerged, different sizes and colors. Staff of the place feed them for 20 minutes. So better to take your position near the edge of the river to witness this magical event =).

4. They have island hopping, you can ask for the staff if where you can rent a boat. Its a walking distance from the information booth. Php. 150 per boat good for 5 person, you can eat your meals either at fish cage where sea foods restaurant is located.
