Swimming with the Fish at Looc Fish Sanctuary Romblon

Looc is one of the prosperous town of Tablas Island. This is next to Odiongan town. Me and my cousins had this thing for discovering new places in our mini island. We love to go on a motorcycle ride which the locals call round Tablas, making a tour of the whole island for the whole day. One of our rides led us to poet of Looc.

It is here where we decided to go and visit their famous fish sanctuary. After paying the fee of 100 pesos per person. This is for the boat fare back and port from the port to the floating cottages. Riding a boat from the port it take us around 10 to 15 minutes before we get to their floating cottages. This floating cottages made with bamboo and some floating materials can accommodate up to 20 persons. Bringing of food is allowed just be reminded not to leave any garbage on the place. The floating cottage has tables and chair where you can have your lunch. They also offer free use of life jackets for those people who don’t know how to swim.

This cottage also has a little small rectangular whole at the center wherein tourist can have a meet and greet with the beautiful fishes. With its sparkling clear water, snorkeling and swimming are the major activities you can do in this place. Also it is a perfect spot for taking sunset photos. A little light house, with some boat can be part of your picture perfect sunset photo. To get here from the port of Odiongan, look for a jeepney bound to Looc. The driver will drop you at the town proper. From there, you can ride a tricycle or motorcycle going to the port of Looc. If you want to experience what the locals love to do – round Tablas adventure, you can ask locals to rent their motocycle for a day.

Prices vary per type of motorcycle you are going to rent. This place is already featured in a television show namely “Byahe ni Drew”. So what are you waiting for? Make sure to come and explore the exotic beauty of Tablas Island.

Stunning Beauty of Bon Bon Beach in Romblon

One of my bucket list is to explore Romblon Island as it is our province capital. Being an island it has a lot of beautiful things waiting to be explored and experienced by the tourist. Since my brother works in a shipping company we have the privilege to travel by ship for free! So my two brothers and I visited this unseen beauty of Romblon. As we take off the ship and leave the port a big ROMBLON sign carved from marbles meet our eyes. Mesmerized with its beauty we spent time taking pictures and selfies on that place. While doing so, my brother borrowed motorcycle from his colleague so we could travel the whole island. And our first destination, Bon Bon beach!

source: backpackingpilipinas

Bon Bon beach is quite far from the port and the center of the island but the ride is worth it. It is a virgin place with no cottages being installed and is not crowded. I remember the time we got there, we are the only people in the place. It is like we own the whole place. We can only hear the wind blowing, the water rolling and some birds singing. Truly a perfect pace to relax. Since there is no cottages here, we look for the shady part of the shore and place our things and set a little picnic for ourselves.

During low tides, the sand bar can be seen from afar making a beautiful way from the beach to the separated island. Sparkling crystal clear sea water, fine sand, blue sky and fluffy clouds are part of the scenery. Some activities you can do here is swimming, camping and snorkeling. The water is so clear that you can see the sea creatures and corals.

To get here, look from shipping company that docks their ships at Romblon port. From the port, you can ask the locals to drop you at the Bon Bon beach or you can rent motorcycle if you know how to drive so that you can tour also on the other part of the island. The fare cost range from 50php – 100 php only.

There you go, a simple but beautiful place to visit, relax and unwind!

Monasterio de Tarlac,Tarlac's Mountain Top Monastery

Have you ever visited a monastery on top of a mountain? How about seeing a relic of the True Cross? Or even taking a photo under the huge statue of Jesus Christ?  Well, this could be an awesome adventure and that could only be in Monasterio de Tarlac.

Monasterio de Tarlac is not the old monastery as you might expect. The construction was just concluded by the year 2000. And in every year's visit, the monastery has always have new places developed.

The 30 ft Statue of the Risen Christ on top of the mountain is gaining a popular attraction not only to religious people but also to many. The ground to where the statue is located is covered with flowers, making it look lovely and close to nature. From the top of the
mountain, you can feel the solemn ambiance, with the cold breeze of air. A very majestic feeling.

Aside from the colossal statue, the relic of the True Cross is enshrined inside the monastery chapel. The story goes when St. Helena, mother of Constantine the Great was in search of the Cross. Under the Calvary Hill, Jerusalem, she found 3 crosses. Not sure which one of
the three was Jesus', so she sent a dying woman to touch all the crosses. The cross that revived the woman from her condition was declared the True Cross. The cross was passed from one hand to another, generation to generation, split up to smaller pieces. Gratefully, in 2007, a splinter of that cross was sent from Germany to Philippines and then it was enshrined at the baroque chapel of the monastery. The relic is said to be miraculous.

There are still more places you can visit around and near the monastery. One of that is the disney-like construction on the other part of the monastery with designs that resemble towers and castles. That is located at the 20 hectare Tarlac Eco-Tourism Park. So the kids and the kids-at-heart will enjoy the tour.

Community mass are also conducted every day: 6:00 am for weekdays and 10:30 am for weekends. So if you want to attend the mass, be sure to take note of the schedule.

The monastery is situated on top of the Mount Resurrection which is part of the Zambales Mountain Range in brgy. Lubigan, San Jose, province of Tarlac.  There is an entrance fee of 50 pesos. If you wish to get to the Monasterio, ride a bus going to Tarlac then alight to
the Siesta Bus Stop in Tarlac. Ride a tricycle to the Jeepney Terminal going to San Jose, Tarlac. From there, you can rent a jeepney to Monasterio.  Or you can travel via car. From Manila, take NLEX to SCTEX exiting at Hacienda Luisita. Take McArthur Highway to Tarlac
City then turn left just after Sogo Hotel and before SM. Follow the road leading to Brgy Tibag Junction. You can see signages going to Monasterio de Tarlac. For people from North, head to Tarlac City to Uniwide Mall. Follow the service Road and turn right to Carangian
Bridge. From there, you will see markers leading to monastery. The roads are well paved but it will take about 2 or 2 and half of travel going to the mountain top.

The Secret behind this abandoned port of Bulata, Must read!

As we do our research and do explore the beautiful tourist destination in Philippines we featured one of the tourist destinations that we can consider as one of a kind and amazing place to visit. We posted information about the particular place that they called “Abandoned Old Port”, it is located at Bulata Cauayan Negros Occidental.

This particular place was one of the biggest producers of copper to be exported to other countries. It was the biggest mining company in town, they are called Philex Mining. Decades passed by, the company went down; they declared bankruptcy without paying people who are working hard for a living. According to some locals, that place was a like a little city where they can find hotels, department stores and even casino.

It was situated in remote area, away from community. When we visited the place, there are few houses that can be seen from afar, those are made of bamboo and coconut woods. While standing at one of the solid crane scrap, we saw those buildings waiting to collapse and we found out that this port was known to have the second largest generator  in Asia that control the entire area producing electricity and processing coppers.

It was just a few stories that we collected from residence. After how many decades passed by, the place changed not for bad, but it shows how amazing it is. It became the most visited in town when it comes to summer destination. There’s no one who controlled it for now, anyone are free to visit, enjoy the cold and clear water, enjoy the amazing formation of large rock that was once used as wall against strong waves, you can enjoy walking on the large blocks that was once a docking station of largest ship.

The place is really amazing. People are enjoying their time with their family, it was the place where you can find freedom without anyone who give you bill as your payment to stay, its free indeed.

One of the secret behind this abandoned port why we coming back for the second time around? There are things that you need to explore in there. It’s not just a beautiful sceneries, a stunning beauty of the place, clear blue water…there’s more…you have to explore it. Its a place with a natural beauty, no cottages to stay, no rooms to sleep, no bars to buy a beer, no cr and you have there the large rocks if you need to pee. If you want to visit this place, you have to bring your foods and water.

The Angry Christ - Victorias City Tourist Attraction

Negros Island is indeed one of the best place that you can consider when you have your travel adventure plans. World Facts News featured one of the best place in Negros Occidental, the Angry Christ located at Victorias city.

Is Christ really angry? … This is the common question of visitors of St. Joseph The worker Parish.
For all the write ups about this very popular ANGRY CHRIST painting at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Vicmico, Victorias City, Negros Occidental, I came to think of how I can write a more distinct article about this unique landmark.

Maybe because I was born and grew up here in this community where the church is located, I can just share my personal thoughts about this beautiful church where my religious belief was constructed.
When I was in my elementary up to my high school years, I happened to be one of the Sacristan (Knights of the Altar-KOA), who was happy to serve during mass celebrations here in this Church.
Maybe because I am from here, that I didn’t even think of the exceptional beauty of the ANGRY CHRIST painting that was behind us when we were sitting just beside the priest while celebrating masses. Maybe I found it so ordinary since it has been there even before I was born.

Source: Outoftownblog

Students who are studying in Victorias Milling Elementary School, Don Bosco Technical Institute and St. Mary Mazarello School constantly pass by this church from their home to school or vice versa. And as a former student we used to drop by and play around the church vicinity. And I even remember, we were reprimanded by the priest that time, Fr. Eli Santos, because we were playing around the church’s vicinity while afternoon mass was going on.

As ordinary as I thought it was, there were and as of now there are still, many tourists that are visiting the place just to take a photos of this historic St. Joseph The Worker Parish Church, specifically, the ANGRY CHRIST painting that has brought fame to the Church, to Vicmico Community, and Victorias City as a whole.

I feel so great and lucky enough to be just here going back and forth to the church which many has just been wishing to visit.

Going here is so easy. From Bacolod City North Terminal, just take a Ceres Bus going directly to Victorias City. Just ask a tricycle driver to bring you at this terrific place of the ANGRY CHRIST, that’s in Vicmico Compound. They may charge you, P40-P50 one-way.

Would you mind coming over?
