Puncak Tanawan is located at Sibulan Dumaguete Negros
Oriental, tanawan is came from the word Tan-awan a local dialect which means,
viewing place. It’s a wonderful place to set your foot prints, take some
pictures and spend your time, effort and energy going there and never hesitate
to bring your friend too. What is this place all about? If you are not into
mountain climbing and trail adventure, well this gonna be a good start for you
to love the hike, strengthen your muscle to walk through Puncak Tanawan. It was
the location where mountain climbers spent their time and enjoy the moment with
nature and today, even young people doing getting their self into a tiring
adventure going there but a relief indeed when you see the beauty of the world below.
Tanawan was once a quiet place with only one house set on
top, it was the owner house who used to take good care of the place and keeping
the green grasses and plants in safe. It was the last station for some mountain
climbers to put their tents and wait for the beautiful sunrise in the morning.
Indeed, the place is like a dream where you can experience that you are being
loved by nature. You are almost touch the tip of the sky, you can feel the warmth
sunrise and feel the cold breeze of air. It was a unique way to feel the beauty
of the world.
On top, the green grasses or known as “Bermuda” that serves
as your mat, feeling comfortable when you lay down while watch the the stunning view below. Standing
on the hill top and visualized the city and take a deep breath and feel that
world from the top.
One in a half hour of walk, taking the path of a small road
going there, its a little bit tiring but a relief when you get there. From the station
where you can park your car or motorcycle, you have to fill up the log book
for the record. You have to take hours or so going to the place they called
Puncak. Along the way, you can pass several small houses, vendors selling foods
and water and good people smiling at you and willing to answers whatever
question you want to ask.
And oh, you can take a ride. Yes, there are motorcycles or
known as habal-habal out there willing to take you to the top if you have a
brave heart or maybe you choose not to ride again after riding once. Php. 50
for 1 ride from the first station going up there and another Php. 50 back.
When you get there, there are places where you can put your
things down and set yourself to relax. There is a house who offer some
foods to eat, water and hot coffee to drink but you have to pay for it. The best thing you can do when
you are on the top of Puncak, taking pictures and take pictures as much as you
want and take picture again ^^. It’s a rare moment to be in there so don't waste time taking the moment to capture it.
