Travel Memories from the Philippines: Hidden Places Worth Visiting

This post is a wrap-up of some of my travel adventures from years ago. I want to share these experiences with people around the world and show that the Philippines has many beautiful places where you can experience the true beauty of nature.

The Philippines is home to countless beaches, mountains, islands, historical sites, and scenic viewpoints. This travel blog may help guide you toward places you can possibly visit during your own Philippine adventure.

When people hear about the Philippines, they often think of Boracay, the Underground River in Palawan, and the Chocolate Hills of Bohol. These destinations are internationally recognized because of their unique landscapes and natural beauty.

However, once you begin exploring beyond the famous tourist spots, you will discover many beautiful places that remain less known and less developed. Below are a few places from my personal travel experiences in Cebu and Negros.

Oslob, Cebu

Oslob is a great stop for travelers coming from Dumaguete or other parts of Negros on their way to Cebu. Along the road, there is a scenic overlooking area where travelers can rest and enjoy a distant view of the blue sea and Somilon Island.

During one of our motorcycle trips to Cebu, we stopped at this viewpoint to relax and take photos. The area was made for travelers, with tables, benches, and a terrace where visitors can sit and enjoy the view. At the time of our visit, there was no entrance fee.

It is a simple stop, but the sea view and fresh air make it worthwhile, especially for travelers who need a short break before continuing their journey.

Simala Shrine of Lindogon, Cebu

The Simala Shrine in Lindogon, Cebu, is one of the most distinctive places to visit in the province. Its large structure resembles a castle built among the mountains, making it an impressive sight even from a distance.

I featured Simala Shrine in a previous travel article, but it deserves to be included again because of its beauty and significance. Many visitors come to offer prayers and give thanks. Some people visit before taking board examinations, applying for jobs, or praying for loved ones who are sick.

Beyond its religious importance, Simala Shrine is also a memorable destination because of its architecture, mountain setting, and peaceful atmosphere.

Elemnan Manok Peak, Negros Occidental

Elemnan Manok Peak is a lesser-known viewpoint in Negros Occidental. It has not yet been developed as a major tourist destination, which gives it a more natural and quiet atmosphere.

The area is accessible by transportation, but visitors need to walk for around 30 minutes from the main road. The journey requires effort, but the experience becomes rewarding once you reach the top.

The landowner has kept the property despite receiving offers from wealthy buyers. The area has the potential to become a resort because of its wide, flat land, natural water sources, and scenic surroundings. For now, it remains free for visitors to explore.

There are no benches, tables, or accommodations in the area, so visitors should bring water, food, and any supplies they may need. Elemnan Manok Peak is best for travelers who enjoy nature, open views, and less crowded destinations.

Beautiful View of Turtle Island in Elihan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental

If you are looking for a peaceful coastal destination in Negros Occidental, consider visiting Elihan, Cauayan. This area is home to beautiful beaches, relaxing resorts, and scenic island views.

One of the nearby attractions is Turtle Island, a quiet and largely undeveloped island with a naturally beautiful setting. Visitors can enjoy white sand, clear water, and a calm atmosphere away from crowded tourist spots.

Turtle Island is especially beautiful in the late afternoon, when the sunset becomes visible over the horizon. The changing colors of the sky, the sound of the waves, and the open sea view create a relaxing experience for visitors.

Whether you want to swim, take photos, enjoy the beach, or simply watch the sunset, Turtle Island near Elihan, Cauayan, Negros Occidental, is a beautiful place to include in your travel itinerary.

This little house situated in the middle of ocean, 30 minutes away from main land

One of the best places where I spent most of my summer vacations is Naawan Island. It is surrounded by small islets, with a small house situated on a giant rock. That house is the only place where you can leave your belongings and food, and it is available only to those who reserve it.

This place is open to the public, and you do not need to spend much money to get there. It is about 30 minutes from the mainland of Negros by motorboat or pump boat. Around ₱300 is enough for a round-trip fare. Overnight stays are not allowed.

Clear water, colorful corals and fishes and...its free...

If you are considering Negros Occidental for your vacation, I highly recommend visiting this place. Add Sipalay City to your list of destinations, then look for Elihan, Cauayan. You can find Naawan Island there.

Other side of the islet with house on it...

This is a family-owned place, but it is open to everyone. You may visit during daylight hours, but you must leave before nighttime. Staying overnight is not allowed because it is a sea turtle nesting area.

Every night, around 10 to 15 sea turtles come to the white-sand beaches of the island to lay their eggs. It is truly a protected area. You are not allowed to take anything from the island, including live shells or other living creatures.

Taking photos is allowed, so bring your camera or smartphone and enjoy the beauty of the island.

Largest Solar Panel in town,Bais City Negros Oriental

hen you travel to Bais City from San Carlos or Mabinay you can find the largest solar panels installed in a vacant area near the Cross road Bais. These panels are source of electricty that supplies business establishments in town.
Solar Panels ay Bais City
Today, they are looking for more vacant places to install and build more panels as the number consumers of electricity are getting higher. They offer low flat rate for every kilowats consumed, lower than the the existing provider.
Multi Million project

They are offering good deals for land owners who will offer their spaces for rent to install more panels, free use of electricity no matter how big is your consumption and monthly rental payment from them. Most of the land owners gave up their sugar cane business for this project.
